Christian Education Fall 2010 begins September 5
Care, Share, Create, Serve The Church of the Heavenly Rest is an Anglican community dedicated to creating an environment that is rich with opportunities for individuals to discern their ministry and means of growth in faith. Centered in God and rooted in the liturgy, we encourage continual faith formation among members of all ages through communion with God and one another and through practices that lead to growth in faith, love, and service. Adult Christian Education includes Weekday as well as Sunday offerings.
Sunday Morning 9:30 a.m.
Old Testament Class will be taught by Dr. Susan Pigott in the Parish Hall.
Inquirers Class - The Inquirers Class, taught by the clergy, begins in February and is for anyone interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church and, in particular, for those seeking confirmation. These classes will be held in the Parish House corner classroom at 9:30 a.m.
Holy Eucharist is the central faith formation offering and is celebrated at 8:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on Sundays, 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, 12:10 p.m. on Thursdays and with the Brotherhood of St. Andrew at 6:30 a.m. on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th, Tuesdays of each month.
Programs During the Week
Monday To be Announced
Tuesday Education for Ministry, commonly known as EFM, is a program of theological education developed by University of the South. Students sign up one year at a time for this small group 4-year program which covers Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy and theology. (EFM is for 4 years, but the student is asked only for a one-year commitment.) During the school year participants meet one evening a week for 3 hour sessions. Contact the Parish Office for more information or to register.
The Centering Prayer Group meets at 4:00 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
St. Margaret's Guild
Wednesday Wednesday Evening Bible Study - An all parish evening Bible Study meets on Wednesday at 6:30 in the Bishop Garrett room. For more information, contact the Parish Office.
Thursday Thursday Morning Bible Study meets on Thursday mornings at 9:30 in the Bishop Garrett Room. Our study of the Gospel of Luke will be taught by Pat Garren.

Friday Young Adults Group - This group meets at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Friday of each month for fellowship and food.
Additional Opportunities Morning Prayer is read each weekday at 8:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Please use the North Sixth Street church entrance.
Interfaith Council Anyone of any faith tradition is invited to participate in the Abilene Interfaith Council. Anyone interested in attending should email the Rev. Roz Thomas at padreroz@suddenlink.net in advance to be sure when the meeting is, since group decisions and outside speakers may affect meeting times.
