How
to Become a Member
of the Episcopal Church
Adults who have not received
Christian Baptism should contact a member of the clergy.
Membership
for Current Episcopalians
Baptized and confirmed members of the Episcopal
Church should request a "letter of transfer". Please contact
the parish office for assistance in transferring your records from your
former parish.
Adult Confirmation Class
Persons who wish to affiliate with the
Episcopal Church are expected to make a mature public affirmation of
their faith and commitment to responsibilities of their Baptism through
the laying on of hands by the Bishop at a special service of
Confirmation. During confirmation, Roman Catholics are
"received" into the Anglican church. All other denominations
are "confirmed" into the Anglican church. In preparation for
Confirmation there will be a specially scheduled six week course of
reading and study. For further information contact one of the Parish
priests.
Youth Confirmation Class
Confirmation is the sacrament wherein a person
"confirms" for him or herself the vows their parents took for
them at baptism. Confirmation preparation at Heavenly Rest has taken
shape in recent years into a Mentoring program. This includes nine weeks
of being "taken through" confirmation by a member of our
Parish, a Mentor. Our confirmation program is available for anyone 16
years of age or older and who has been baptized into the Christian
faith. If you are interested in confirmation, or have questions please
contact one of the parish priests.
